Sneak a Peek as She Creates Marbled Leather – (Read Time: 1 min.)

Artisans in India have celebrated the art of marbling for centuries!

Get a sneak peek behind the scenes as Mujeeb creates marbled leather.

Meet Mujeeb, one of our Trades of Hope Artisan partners in India.

“We live in a friendly community in India on the outskirts of Jaipur, surrounded by many other Artisans.

My brothers, sisters, and I learned marbling growing up. We watched our father do this technique in our courtyard.

Our father is a master craftsman, and our whole family depends on the income generated by the artistry of marbling.

A local workshop gave us our first opportunity to try marbling on leather.

They always try to incorporate and introduce us to new customers which helps us economically.

Getting steady work, timely pay, and seeing our craft techniques being interpreted and used in very unique ways gives us immense joy.

We hope this will open new avenues for us in the near future.

Our work is making it possible to get some repair work done in our house. We have extended family living here and would like to improve our living standards.

Hopefully one day, we will have a bigger house to live in, so our entire family can live with peace and comfort.

Every assignment we take, we save some money for our future home.” – Mujeeb, Artisan in India
