Anju's Story of Hope I came to this artisan community with no skills. However, I saw many women just like me making beautiful leather handbags. My initial job was to clean the finished bags of glue stains and point out quality issues. I was working under the quality control in charge. I was doing my job quite well and learned what to look for in a bag when it came from production. With time, the quality control manager retired with ailing health issues, and the factory needed a quality control manager. Although the person heading the quality department had always been a male, looking at the opportunity, I requested for them to give me a chance to lead the department, and to my surprise, they gave me a chance, and here I am heading the quality department with ten women who work with me. There are many good memories since I started working with this artisan community - from financial help to mentorship - however, I was very happy when I was selected to be a Trades of Hope Girl. I hope Trades of Hope handbags tell my story to the world. My story is about true empowerment and how I am fighting all odds with the right people on my side."
