Our producers are globally recognized for helping preserve a UNESCO-protected nomadic felting tradition, leveraging this wisdom to make products that are soft, durable, and plastics-free. This workshop isn’t just fair, it’s a world leader in wool felting. Every pair of Kyrgies is carefully handcrafted by skilled artisans who take pride in their work, using techniques, passed down through generations.

Kyrgies factory's ability to produce wool felt is legendary. This can be attributed to the skill and love that the artisans give to their work. Every pair of Kyrgies that is produced is touched by the hands of many Kyrgyz artisans. From the sheep shearer to the quality control expert that signs off on every pair. They create products for people that care about where their clothing comes from. People that also consider their homes to be a special place and look forward to the ritual of arriving home, taking off outdoor shoes, and embracing their Kyrgies. OUR FELTED WOOL All Kyrgies styles are made from warm, durable felted wool sourced from small family farms in Kyrgyzstan, where sheep herding is an important cultural tradition. The wool is then felted in a generations-old process at our partner factory in Kyrgyztan’s capital, Bishkek. Learn more about the craftsmanship behind every pair of Kyrgies OUR VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHER Our All Naturals collection uses vegetable-tanned leather from Kyrgyzstan. To avoid the toxic chromium used in tanning conventional leather goods, our artisans use gentle extracts derived from quebracho and mimosa trees. OUR DYES To achieve the vibrant colors of many of our Kyrgies styles, we rely on low-impact acid dyes that do not contain toxic chemicals or mordants (which fix the dye to the fabric), require less rinsing and have a high absorption rate in the fabric. Sale items: Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded. FAQs: Does Kyrgies fit true to size? Kyrgies come in European sizes. We have created conversions to US sizing based on extensive feedback from our customers over the years. Generally speaking, we suggest you follow our conversion. If you are in between sizes, we suggest that you order up. If you have a low volume foot, adding a pair of insoles to your order is a good way to get the correct length and without the slipper feeling too wide and roomy. Our Molded Sole and Classic styles are our narrowest styles because they are built on a narrow mold. We also suggest adding an insole to your order. Insoles do a great job of filling up the excess volume in the shoe. They also add more cushion to your steps. I have wide feet. Which Kyrgies will work for me? For feet EEE width or over, check out our All Natural Kyrgies. Built on a wider and flatter mold, they are roomier than any of our other other styles, and can easily accommodate an orthotic insole. Can I wear my Kyrgies outside? Our traditional models are meant for indoor use. Stepping outside in your leather sole Kyrgies won't ruin them, but it's not what they made for. Our Nomad and Walkabout styles for men, women, and children have a rubberized soles that created specifically for outdoor wear. These soles are durable and can be worn outside extensively. They can even be worn in cold snowy conditions. We still don't recommend getting your wool felt uppers very wet. They will absorb water and slush and won't be very cozy at that point. Can I throw my Kyrgies in the wash? We don’t recommend it. All Kyrgies are made from felted wool and can easily shrink or lose their shape in the washing machine. It can also cause the leather soles on certain styles to bleed. If your Kyrgies are looking a little dirty, try spot cleaning with a dry brush, or if necessary, a gentle wool-friendly detergent and a damp cloth. Dry cleaning is also an option.
