This necklace was designed by the founder of Mercy Workshop.  It connects you to a legacy of compassion and empowerment, making it more than just an accessory—it’s a meaningful emblem of dedication and transformation.

Mercy Workshop provides women in the Dominican Republic with a life of dignity through Christ-driven support, job skills training, educational opportunities, counseling, and crisis prevention.

The Story Behind the Design

Thirteen mother of pearl tubes mark Allison’s age when she moved to the Dominican Republic, followed by twelve silver beads representing the years before her marriage. Two mother of pearl heishi beads symbolize Allison and her husband, and a Larimar stone—unique to the Dominican Republic—commemorates their move there. Six silver beads stand for the years until Allison founded a school, marked by a small mother of pearl bead. Three beads of mother of pearl and amazonite represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as Allison launched her ministry. A small mother of pearl heishi bead honors a miscarriage, a deeply personal part of her journey. Silver beads follow, leading to two mother of pearl tubes and ten heishi beads symbolizing Ephesians 2:10, reflecting Allison’s divine purpose. Three grey pearls and additional beads surround a mother of pearl dove, representing the Trinity and the growth of the Paloma Project—a ministry named after the first woman Allison served, symbolizing freedom and love. This necklace is more than jewelry; it’s a testament to faith, resilience, and hope.

Meet the Artisan

Mae Lee's Story of HopeWhen I was 15 years old, my mother needed money, so I was trafficked to Greece. I worked there for six years. I was finally helped and returned back to my home country after six incredibly painful years. However, I had no idea what to do when I arrived. With only a primary school education, it was extremely difficult to find a job. This Artisan community stepped in and offered me a new beginning. I was excited to study literacy, English, math, and computers. Through the program the Artisan community offers, I discovered my passion for capturing beauty. I've received specialized training and mentoring from professional photographers. Currently, I take many of the product and model photos for our organization. I came to this Artisan community with no confidence in myself, but now, I take pride in my work. At this workshop, I know who I am, and I feel a sense of purpose. I have a community that is like family to me and I have been able to pursue dreams that I once thought were impossible.
