LIMITED EDITION – While Supplies Last! Artisans in Guatemala handcraft this eco-friendly artisanal design from brown genuine leather and colorful upcycled Mayan Huipil blouses that are no longer being worn. Huipil blouses have traditionally been worn by women in Guatemala to signify which village they call home. Each ethically made backpack is one of a kind, as the top front flap features Huipil colors, patterns, and motifs that are unique to each woman’s village.

Lined with 100% cotton, this Huipil Backpack with an interior zipper pocket is ideally sized to carry your everyday essentials with feminine style. Keep your essentials secure with the drawstring and magnetic flap closure. Adjustable straps allow you to customize your backpack to your personal size and comfort. Every purchase provides safe jobs with fair wages for women in areas of extreme poverty in Guatemala.

Every backpack has variations as a part of the Artisan-made charm.

Meet the Artisan

Clara's Story of Hope Thank you very much to all of you who are buying our products. We are a group of women who sometimes our husbands have jobs, but other times our husbands don't have jobs. We can bring our kids and little babies to work with us. It provides us with money every week to feed them. We're happy that you are satisfied with the things that we're making for you and say that our quality is very good. I want to teach new ladies. We get requests from other ladies who want to join our workshop, but we don't have enough equipment. With more sewing machines, we can bring more people in. Thank God that we have this help from this partnership!

The Impact of Your Purchase

In Guatemala, gender discrimination and a lack of opportunities prevent many women in areas of extreme poverty from receiving an education or earning a living wage. But these women are utilizing their traditional skills to create beautiful products that reflect their culture and empower them to provide for their families at home. As Artisans and business owners, women in rural villages are now able to feed, clothe, and pay for their children to go to school - opening doors to a brighter future for the next generation in Guatemala! Purchase this backpack and empower a woman in Guatemala!
