Empowering Dreams
Sandy’s Story of Hope in Peru – Trades of Hope (Read Time 1 min.)
“One of my short-term dreams is to finish my institute, and my long-term dream is to study in college. My work is my way to solve the challenges of pursuing my studies. It wouldn’t be possible without it.
Without my work, life would be difficult, because I couldn’t pay my expenses. I couldn’t study. I’m doing my best to keep both activities, even though it is difficult.”
Building Authentic Relationships
Mentoring Makes a Difference – “At first, handcrafting jewelry was difficult. But with practice, I’ve learned better skills. Now I’m able to make some decisions in our production and packaging processes.”
“My favorite part of the day in our workshop is mornings at eight o’clock, when we all arrive and prepare for our workday. It’s funny when our energies join! We are all neighbors.” – Sandy
Supporting Sustainable Jobs
“It’s really helpful for us to live near the workshop because we can dedicate time to our family, and the Artisans who have children can have a better control of their life. We also don’t have to spend money to move to a workshop.”
“This is part of my story… We are so pleased to work with Trades of Hope! We hope that you continue relying on handmade crafts!”
– Sandy, Fair-Trade Jewelry Artisan in Peru
