Ethical Fashion and Fair Trade

Iridescent.com recently featured Trades of Hope founder, Chelsie Antos, as a trusted leader in the growing Ethical Fashion and Fair Trade movements. Interviewer Victoria Bardega advocates the need for consumers to consider the people behind the products they buy.

Companies like Trades of Hope pave the way for people in other parts of the world to receive an income for artisanal products. From dangling earrings to handbags, it provides women with an array of eclectic accessories that compliment an everyday style. In return, thousands of women around the world have received the benefit of an income to support their families and rise above poverty. – Victoria Bardega, Iridescent.com

Kannika, Trades of Hope Artisan partner in Thailand

Kannika has been sewing, knitting, and creating fashions as an Artisan for over ten years. She’s able to pay for her children to go to school with the income she earns making fair-trade jewelry that celebrates Thailand’s traditional crafts, like tassel earrings. During the day, Kannika takes care of her family’s home. She works while her kids are in school. Training and working at home also help her family save money because she doesn’t have to travel far away to find work like many mothers in Thailand’s rural villages.

Chelsie champions the international Artisans who make Trades of Hope products, as well as the Partners who sell them.
The world has become so fast-paced and consumeristic that we often don’t think about the effects of our choices. Many people are working in unfair and heartbreaking environments. Fair Trade chooses to slow the process down and always put people first. At Trades of Hope, that is one of our primary values—people.
