Elevate Academy, a program of the Rebecca Bender Initiative non-profit, is a free, online Professional Development program for survivors of human trafficking. Registered students complete a three-month long program, which covers two core courses and one elective. Elevate Academy’s courses are created by survivors, for survivors. Through online Live Discussion groups, lesson videos, community and networking, and workbooks, Elevate Academy provides an innovative solution for survivors who are starting a career or are looking to make a change.

The journal provided through this donation will be placed in a welcome box for students, which includes their curriculum, workbooks, as well as special gifts. For some survivors, this is the first time they have been given a gift with nothing expected in return.

Meet the Artisan

Mamta’s Story of Hope    Mamta is a young mother who dreams of giving her daughter the education she needs to become a computer programmer. In India, many women, especially in areas of extreme poverty, drop out of school, marry young, and never get an opportunity to pursue their dreams. Mamta handcrafts paper journals to help support her daughter’s education. As her daughter prepares to graduate from college, this mom is excited to see what the future holds!

The Impact of Your Purchase

The poverty cycle in India continues primarily because of the lack of education and essential resources that are often not available or affordable for children in India’s slums. Many of these children never learn to read or write and grow up with limited opportunities. Many families in India’s slums have limited or no access to health care or clean water. Your purchase helps provide Artisans in areas of extreme poverty and their children with access to education, health care, and clean water programs. Every purchase gives hope to families in India’s slums.           Purchase this journal and empower a woman in India!
