Trades of Hope Gives Meals to Families Threatened by Food Insecurity

Trades of Hope believes every challenge is an opportunity to do good!

We partner with women and communities in 18 countries to give families power over poverty, human trafficking, and abuse – every day. Now, during these unprecedented and uncertain times, we’re partnering to give meals to help feed the most vulnerable families in America. Each day, as businesses and local economies, shut down due to the COVID-19 virus, more and more families are threatened by food insecurity.

What is Food Insecurity?

Food insecurity is a growing global crisis – magnified by declining economic trends caused by COVID-19 – even here in the United States.

Food insecurity is commonly defined by health, government, and non-profit organizations as having limited or uncertain access to enough food to support a healthy life.

In March 2020, Feedingamerica.org reported the following statistics about poverty and hunger in America:

• More than 38 million people are living in poverty in America.
• More than 37 million people struggle with hunger in the United States, including more than 11 million children.
• Children are more likely to face food insecurity than any other group in the United States.

The Power of Hope

Every year, Trades of Hope gives a percentage of our overall product sales to support organizations that give women and families power over poverty, human trafficking, and abuse. Every single purchase makes an impact.

We partner to provide dignified jobs in areas of extreme poverty. Economic decline is a hardship for everyone, but for many Artisans and their families, it’s devastating – even dangerous. Many of these families already face the threat of malnutrition and starvation every day because they live in isolated communities in third world countries – without dependable access to resources like nutritious food and clean water.

We have the power to offer them hope. The impact of many ordinary people, partnering together to do good – even small acts of good – is so much more sustainable and powerful than depending on a handful of heroes to change the world. Trades of Hope is committed to partnering with women and families around the world to make fashion a powerful force for good.

Spreading Hope – Gifts of Hope

Gifts of Hope is an important link in the chain of empowering women out of poverty.

It’s the vehicle through which we give back through a percentage of our product sales.

Throughout the year, Trades of Hope gives donations to organizations with a specific vision in mind – fighting for justice for women around the world.

That’s why, in addition to the work we’re doing by creating sustainable businesses, we choose to use Gifts of Hope to contribute to the efforts of others.

About Trades of Hope

So many women live in poverty, not because they lack abilities, but because they lack opportunity. Trades of Hope was started to give women that opportunity for a better life. Each woman has a story, and with Trades of Hope’s help, their story has changed from pain and struggle to a story of hope!

Trades of Hope works with Artisans and organizations that are helping women in difficult circumstances. Some women have been rescued from sex slavery. Others are raising handicapped children, alone. Some are in war-torn countries and others have HIV/AIDS and leprosy. These women have never had the chances we’ve had, yet they are just like us in so many ways. They love their families… and hope and dream of a better life for them.

Trades of Hope is helping by offering their products through home and online parties, so every woman can put food on her family’s table, a roof over their heads, and get medical care and education for her children.
